Salmonella Shigella Agar – SS Agar
SS agar is a differential selective medium for the isolation of Salmonella and some Shigella species from clinical specimens, foods etc.

Preparation
# Dissolve 60g in 1000ml of distilled water (purified water)
# Heat and frequent stirring to completely dissolve the medium
# Heat with frequent stirring until boiling (DO NOT AUTOCLAVE)
# Cool to 45-50°C, Mix well and dispense into appropriate sterile containers

Storage
Once opened keep powdered medium closed to avoid hydration and use before the expiry date on the label.
